Do I need the paper inserts when using a silicone muffin pan?
Okay, I recently purchased a new muffin pan, one of the flexible silicone ones.....I'm aware I am sounding a bit naive here, but do I need to use the cupcake inserts with this type of pan?
You don't need to. They'll just pop out on their own - I don't even spray my liners, but then again I make my muffins full fat. If you're replacing some of the oil with applesauce in your recipe, or if your recipe doesn't call for too much oil, it'll probably be a good idea to spray your muffin pan.
With that being said, sometimes it's nice to use the cupcake inserts. If I'm making them to pile in a basket or give to someone, I like the cupcake inserts. If they're just for us or to freeze, I make them "naked."
Hope this helps!
