Baking With Beaulieus – Best And Worst Recipes EVER And The Making Of Banana Bread

We've set out to make some of the recipes from our childhood after ransacking our mothers recipe box. WE are GREAT cooks - however we are not good at reading instructions. So ... we screwed up due to our lack of reading the recipe...
here is the real recipe (it still turned out just fine regardless but you might want to follow these instructions!)

Pain aux Bananes (Banana Bread)

1 ¾ c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. Baking powder
¼ tsp. Baking soda
½ tsp. Salt
2/3 c. granulated sugar
1/3 c. shortening
2 eggs (not beaten)
½ c. crushed nuts
1 c. mashed ripe bananas
-Preheat the oven to 350oF.
-Grease a 9x5x3 bread pan.
-Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
-Cream sugar shortening and eggs in a large bowl on high speed for 3 minutes.
-Add nuts, bananas and flour mixture and beat at low speed for about 1 minute.
-Pour into greased pan and bake for 1 hour.
-Chill before slicing.
