Which Type Of Oven Is Best For Baking,Gas Or Electric?

I talking about a conventional one piece stove. Not Wolfe's or Viking's
On most of the cooking shows it looks like the ovens are electric. and the burners are gas.I have no choice mine is totally gas but I do have convection (unheard of I know) I don't bake goodies except a cookie once in a while so the temp isn't that critical .

I have never used elecric for any oven cooking. So far my results have been excellent. I guess it really just comes down to preference.

We don't use electric ovens at the restaurant either.

i hate to say it, but for baking…..electric. electric sucks for range top cooking but for precise temperatures and pre-heating, electric is the way to go! i love baking, but hate the inconsistency of a gas oven. did you know that just closing the oven door too hard can throw your calibration off? so, my vote, electric.

The electric oven’s of course better.
The heat is consistent and more evenly spread. You can just leave whatever you’re baking in it for the time given and then do your own thing till the timer rings.
Fot the gas oven you’ll have to check every 15 minutes or so to check that the temperature hasn’t risen or lowered.
Go electric if you can afford it.
Sadly, I’m using gas but my gas oven and I know one another well. :D

I’d say an electric oven. I’ve got one and i do all my baking with it. It turns out quite good but i think there is no difference

I have had both. I gave up baking because nothing turned out right in the gas oven.

The flames scorch the bottom of everything if it’s something that has to be baked at a high temp. That’s my biggest finding.

Electric heats from top and bottom if need be for it to turn on again.

electric with a convenction oven- I have had mine for six months now and I love it!!! you can fill the whole thing up, every rack full, and everything bakes perfectly even!!!! I am very happy with my choice.

I honestly prefer a gas stove, all the way around, but you have to get used to it, or you may burn a lot of food.

Gas stoves produce better products, however they are very fickle and only good cooks can manage them…

that is why most people think that electric ovens are better…because they lack the talent to cook with gas…

i grew up with a electric range. Worked well, but didn’t heat up as fast as our gas stove does.
Gas seems to reach a higher temperature more quickly, and have noticed takes less time to boil water. As previous posts have stated, it takes some getting used to b/c you can’t always go by the baking time, but if you watch what your cookin it shouldn’t be a problem. When using the stove top you gotta get familar with your flame height and "eye ball" it.
The best part though is if my power goes out, i can still use my stove. Must obviously use a match to light it, but it works fine. Definitely an advantage.

Electric seems to have better heat control, UNLESS you get a gas oven w/ a fan in the back, to circulate the air. Depending upon the brand, this is called "Convection, Speed Bake" or other terms like this. Just open the oven and look.
