I have never baked a turkey in my life but I've always wanted to. I'm getting a new stove so it's a good time to start I guess. Are there any tips/tricks? I just don't want it to be awful and dry. Is a frozen turkey ok? I was going to use a self-basting bag? Do I put something on the turkey before baking?
Self basting is awesome to use!!! After cleaning the turkey coat it with butter on the outside and under the skin. Stuff it with carrots, celery, onions and fresh basil and cilantro. This will make the turkey super juicy!!! Good Luck!

Biggest tip!!! Pull it out of the oven before it is done. A turkey will continue to cook after being pulled from the oven.

turkey is so easy and has very few basic steps.
Of course frozen turkey is fine but you do thaw it first, according to the directions on the bag.
Frankly if you buy a Butterball turkey, it sort is idiot proof(no offense please.) If you follow the directions that comes with a Butterball, you will have a fantastic turkey.
There are lots of ways to do it and once you have the basics mastered you can play around with different rubs and seasoning combos.
I personally have never used one of those self basting bags, partly because I am a control freak and want to do it my self!
Have fun and Happy turkey roasting.
