Any Baking Tips?

I am pretty new to cooking so I don't have much experience. I was just wondering if there are any tips or ways to avoid a dry top when baking. I've recently tried baking ziti and macaroni and cheese and both times the top layer of the pasta gets dry and kind of hard. Should I cover it? Any advice would be really appreciated...thanks!!!

You could use more liquid or sauce or whatever on top. You could try covering with foil. You could try cooking at a different level of your oven(as in change racks).

Basically you need to experiement with your cooking and learn your stove. For example the stove I have now is awful for cooking uneven, so I have to turn things I bake multiple times during the baking process, and play with what rack I cook on.

I had that problem too. I used more sauce on the top of it. I also started watching it like a hawk the last bit of baking time

of course u have to cover it. if the recipe is something which can be stirred, go ahead and stir in between

not only cover it sometimes sprinkle with a small amount of water and if you cook lasagna make sure the edges are tucked down in the sauce.
