Baking soda to be packed in a bottle, and then Vinegar will be poured in (maybe in a different order, I can't remember). The lid will be put on and the pressure will build. After the lid (which is up against a wall) will pop off and propel the car forward. We're using standard grocery store materials. How many parts baking soda to water would work best?

Vinegar is acetic acid: CH3COOH
Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate: NaHCO3
Mixing the two is simply an acid base reaction.
CH3COOH + NaHCO3 ---> CH3COONa + H2CO3
That last product is carbonic acid which quickly decomposes into
carbon dioxide and water:
H2CO3 ---> H2O + CO2
The CO2 is what you see foaming and bubbling in this reaction.
