What went wrong with my pound cake?
I have tried a very basic pound cake recipe in a metal bundt pan and it turned out great. Recently, I bought a silicone bundt pan and my cake turned out awful. The outside was very burnt and the inside was still a little wet. I followed the recipe exactly. I was thinking that I possibly went wrong by buttering and flouring the pan, as the recipe with a metal pan called for. Also something that freaked me out was the plastic smell while it baked - is that normal?
sounds like to you have some cheap silicone stuff...or else It just doest do like the commercial says lol. If you did it in your metal pan, and it was fine, then obviously it is the pan. Furthermore you dont have to butter and flour a silicone pan, but im not so sure it caused your problem. You may also get an oven thermometer and make sure the temp is still in tune with the dial.
