Mold Baking
can you mold a cheesecake, or bake it in a bowl?
This sounds kind of "out there", and is a long story, but is it possible to mold a cheesecake into different shapes? For instance, if I baked it in a glass bowl to make it take on a round "mound" shape- that would be flat on the bottom? I'm doing an artsy cooking project...
Would I bake it for longer and on a lower heat since the middle would be really thick? Has anyone done anything like this before? Any info would be great!!
What you will need to do is spray the bowl with cooking spray.
Preheat the oven to 325. Pour the cheesecake mixture into the bowl, and put it on a rack in the middle of the oven. If you are using eggs in the mixture, you are actually baking a custard. Your are done when the center of the cake still moves. Turn off the oven, crack the oven door open and let the cake sit for at least two hours or more.
When the cake is completely cool, put in the fridge for at least two hours. When ready to serve, immerse the bowl in a hot water bath for about one minute, put a plate over the bowl and quickly invert it. The cake should slide right out.
